Metro North Traction Power MOD InstallationS In August 2008, TC Electric was the low bidder on an $18 million project to implement improvements to Metro-Norths traction power system and relocate medium voltage feeders in Grand Central Terminal. This job, which is part of the significant East Side Access project, consists of the removal and relocation of traction power cables in the Madison Avenue Yard Area for East Side Access, and new platforms / station for Long Island Railroad access into Grand Central. TC is providing the necessary services to construct a fiber optic-based automation system for the indication and control of motor-operated disconnect switches for third rail applications. Additional work involves replacement of 13.2kV feeders between the transformer houses, and the demolition and removal of medium voltage, control, fiber optic, low voltage conduit and cables, abandoned conduits and equipment.
