Lexington Avenue & 5th Avenue Interlockings, Queens Boulevard Line in the borough of Manhattan

In October 2008, TC Electric was the low bidder on a $105 million project to replace the Lexington Avenue & 5th Avenue Interlockings on the Queens Boulevard Line. Work on this project is underway on a number of different fronts. There are separate work scopes beyond the core signal system work, such as tunnel lighting and implementing changes to the Stillwell Terminal Interlocking. The Stillwell Terminal Interlocking work requires tie-ins and modi ications of the existing signal system circuitry that is in-service. This type of work is a core competency of TCs work force.

TC will be installing a new signal system on the E IND line. New signals and wayside equipment at 53 locations, from 23rd Street and Ely Avenue to Seventh Avenue, will be placed in service, speeding the existing service for the riding public. Two new relay rooms will be constructed at Lexington and Fifth Avenues, and the mezzanine walkways will be modernized at both stations with temporary and permanent tunnel lighting. The anticipated duration of the entire project is four years.
