PROJECT: NYCT W4th St
CONTRACT VALUE: $89.5 Million
These projects (with a combined contract value of $184MM) comprised full signal system modernization, including replacement of the existing signal systems with new 60Hz signal systems. The work entailed the furnishing and installation of new Solid-State Interlocking (SSI)-based technology. Other systems included instrumentation & controls, traction power and fiber-optic communication. Construction included new relay rooms, various utility rooms and utility tie-ins. Wayside installation included switches, track cases, signals, stops and IJs. The rooms included HVAC, fire suppression systems and new power distribution. These projects are central to NYCT’s CBTC-readiness program. TC overcame significant scheduling challenges related to track access by successfully working with NYCT to implement unprecedented four-track shutdowns of the 6th Avenue line.
